720p is 1280x720 pixels 

So a blu-ray movie would be downscaled to 720p to play on this monitor. It may not make much of a visual difference for a movie considering the display is small.

But a 1080p display will have more than twice number of pixels of a 720p display. More desktop real estate for a PC!</description>
