Parking Meter in Bangalore

The Hi-Tech city of Banglore has a parking meter at Brigade Road. The funny part is its a manned by a person who puts the coins. So why have a parking meter in the first place? Its better to have a person writing a receipt.
The problem is that people want to get Hi-Tech but not everyone knows how to use it. And when the parking meter was installed, people didn’t have the coins and also people didn’t know how long they are going to park. If they don’t know how long they are going to park, they don’t know how much money to put in.
We have a similar situations with the vending machines. I think India is the only country where we have vending machines operated by humans then why have vending machines in the first place?

It’s a little like manned ATM booths and manned lifts. I guess, though, that some people are too high-faluting to press their own damn buttons.

Well, just goes to show that when there are people who do not know how to drive, they would need assistance with the parking meters too.

With its large labor force and unemployment, I cannot understand why people try to automate unnecessary things. Why not let someone make a living instead? Also, is it faster for me to find change or get change?

I blame the Indian government. The government needs new blood to rebuild the tattered infrastructure and take it to the next level. This old school politiking is polarizing the entire country hence, people manning vending machines.
